Kansas City, MO — The Health Forward Foundation (Health Forward) has awarded nine nonprofit organizations a total of $359,800 in applicant defined grants during the month of May.
Health Forward reviewed 18 proposals totaling $1,098,514 for this funding round.
The following grants were awarded in May 2018:
|Ad Hoc Group Against Crime||$65,000||To reduce the impact of trauma due to violence among people of color in economically-distressed neighborhoods by supporting a range of mental health services.|
|American Heart Association||$25,000||To provide clients with blood pressure monitoring, healthy lifestyle nudges, self-management reminders, and additional health and well-being resources.|
|Belton School District #124||$35,000||To achieve improved public health within the Belton School District and Cass County by providing behavioral health services in a school setting.|
|Harvesters||$25,000||To provide weekend meals to food-insecure children, ensuring they return to school nourished and ready to learn.|
|Metro Organization For Racial And Economic Equity||$35,000||To provide program support to achieve the passage of the Healthy Homes rental housing inspection ordinance for the 220,000 people in Kansas City rental housing.
|Missouri Health Care For All||$60,000||To support statewide leadership on grassroots health advocacy, policy advocacy in support of consumer health access, grassroots organizing, and statewide consumer story collection.
|Reconciliation Services||$60,000||To support core organizational improvements, strategic plan development, accounting system upgrades, Certified Public Accountant oversight, and completion of an annual audit.|
|Riverview Health Services||$35,000||To help vulnerable people with chronic conditions through the development of an in-clinic medication assistance program.
|Street Medicine Kansas City
||$19,800||To support nursing care for a homeless population in need of medical and behavioral care in the Kansas City metro area.|
Applicant defined grants are reviewed and awarded monthly. These grants allow organizations to define their own immediate grant needs in relation to the Health Forward mission, target population, and service area. Organizations are allowed to apply once per year and are capped at $75,000. In 2018, Health Forward will award approximately $4 million in applicant defined grants.
