Presidential election years heighten the decibel of the political conversation. Between SNL skits, shocking headlines, and social media, politics are very top-of-mind for many of us in our personal lives, but where do they factor into the work of nonprofit organizations?
Although nonprofits are prohibited from endorsing candidates or taking partisan position, they have significant latitude to engage in the public policy dialogue. The Health Forward Foundation is proud to support countless area nonprofits in their effort to be a player in policy change efforts.
There continues to be confusion about what and how nonprofit organizations can advocate and lobby for policy change. Health Forward is partnering with the REACH Healthcare Foundation, Support KC, and the Francis Family Foundation to host an upcoming training on “Advocacy Rules for Nonprofits.”
The training will presented by Abby Levine, director at Bolder Advocacy, a project of the Alliance for Justice. Abby is one of the nation’s leading experts in federal tax and election law and their impact on nonprofits.
