As has become an annual activity for our organization, before we ring in the new year, we take a look back at events, projects and moments from 2014 that have impacted the health care scene in our communities and our nation.
On day two of our Year In Review series, Health Forward Program Officer Mary Kettlewell recaps what she knows about the past year.
Frequently when I email my adult son, I send him a list of things that have happened that day or week with family members, me, current events, etc.
I always end the list with the words, “That is what I know.” Since this is meant to be a year-end blog post, I will recap what I know about the past year.
- We have the best grantees. We have gone to them many times over the last year to ask their opinions about a variety of issues, and they have responded positively and thoughtfully every time. We know you are busy, and we want you to know that we appreciate you for giving some of your precious time to us.
- Kansas City is one of the best cities in the country for collaboration. We have that reputation, and it is proven by the projects we are involved with in our grantmaking. They are collaborative, creative and effective in solving problems in our communities.
- I have the best co-workers ever. They have helped me get through a very difficult year physically due to health issues. There has been no end to what they have done to help me. I am extremely grateful. I am also grateful to the Health Forward Board, CAC members and grantees who have been so kind.
- Health Forward grantees work very hard and each year seek to serve more people and to meet more needs in the community. I applaud you for your dedication and your persistence.
That is what I know.
