This week we said goodbye to our friend and colleague Mary Kettlewell.
Mary spent her career dedicated to improving the lives of those less fortunate. Many of you had the opportunity to work with her the last nine years in her role as program officer at the Foundation. Mary led the mental health work at Health Forward and was especially proud of her work on improving the nursing work force, trauma-informed care and advancing evidence-based practices in mental health.
Before coming to Health Forward, Mary spent time at Child Protection Services, the National Children’s Alliance, Child Protection Center/Jackson County Family Court, The Children’s Place, CASA and University of Kansas Medical Center.
Like us, Mary holds a special place in many of your hearts. She was known for her resilience, sense of fairness, incredible work ethic and dedication to those who are vulnerable.
It has been our privilege to support her through her illness, but even more than that, to bear witness to her determination and experience her sense of humor, which brightened our work place.
She leaves a great legacy of accomplishments, friendships and people whose lives have been changed. That mark is deepest on her husband, Evan, her beloved son, Greg, and especially the delight of her life, her granddaughter Lydia.
We will always remember and cherish the time we were able to spend with her as part of our Health Forward family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones at this most difficult time.
