Kansas City, MO — The Health Forward Foundation (Health Forward) has awarded six nonprofit organizations a total of $291,249 in Applicant Defined Grants (ADG).
For this funding round, Health Forward reviewed 10 ADG proposals totaling $572,648.
The following grants were awarded in January 2017:
|Amethyst Place||$75,000||To fund supportive housing programs: case management and wrap-around services, life skills and parenting development.|
|El Centro||$28,159||To provide support for the Promotoras de Salud manager and Promotoras coordinator for the first six months of 2017. This program provides education to the Latino community about how to become healthier through adopting lifestyle changes.|
|FosterAdopt Connect||$12,090||To implement a new client database.|
|Journey to New Life||$60,000||To improve the health of men and women who have a physical, mental or emotional disability, and to assist with applying for federal assistance. These individuals will have improved access to health services and more stable permanent housing as a result of increased income.|
|Legal Aid of Western Missouri||$46,000||To support an attorney and a paralegal providing legal assistance to help homeless persons access the public benefits and health care.|
|Sunflower House||$70,000||To provide child victims of abuse in Johnson and Wyandotte counties with trauma-focused therapy, advocacy and forensic services.|
Applicant Defined Grants are awarded outside of Health Forward annual Requests for Proposals. ADGs are reviewed and awarded monthly and allow organizations to define their own immediate grant needs in relation to the Health Forward mission. Organizations are allowed to apply for an ADG once per year and are capped at $75,000. In 2017, Health Forward will award approximately $4.085 million in ADGs.
“We are proud to support these organizations who are working with us to create a shared culture of health,” said Bridget McCandless, M.D., Health Forward President/CEO.
