Health Forward Announces Dates for Mental Health Funding

In August 2012, the Health Forward Foundation will invest $4.7 million in mental health grants. Because of the increasing number of mental health disorders and a decrease in the amount of treatment available, enhanced mental health care is central to the mission of Health Forward. The broad goal of this funding cycle is a mental health care system that provides quality care more efficiently and effectively to the uninsured and underserved.

Specifically, Health Forward recognizes a need for mental health services in school-based services, early intervention programs, community-based services and integration of physical and behavioral health services.

Health Forward’s mental health funding is used to strengthen the capacity of regional organizations and providers to improve prevention and advocacy, access and quality of services for persons affected by mental illness, substance abuse and trauma. The three areas of focus are family violence, depression and co-occurring disorders. More information on these areas can be found in the full Request for Proposals (RFP).

Some important dates to remember for Health Forward Mental Health funding:

Letter of Intents due: Noon, March 14
Full Proposal Submission due: Noon, April 18
Awards Announcement: August 8
