Health Forward Awards Over $930,000 in Applicant Defined Grants

The Health Forward Foundation (Health Forward) approved $930,077 in applicant defined grants to support organizations who strive to eliminate barriers to quality health and promote healthy lifestyles.

$50,000 to Communities Creating Opportunity (CCO) for its Health Care Access Project.
$50,000 to Ad Hoc Group Against Crime/Resource Development Institute to support families dealing with the loss and emotional stress resulting from being exposed to community violence.
$48,000 to KC Healthy Kids to support the Bi-State Kansas City Healthy Kids initiative.
$43,750 to Truman Medical Centers to support 125 nurses in receiving professional certifications.
$43,032 to Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission to provide a gaps analysis and feasibility study.
$40,000 to Amethyst Place to provide operating support for treatment and supportive housing for women recovering from substance abuse and their children.
$40,000 to Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence to support the development and implementation of public policies and responses to address domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking.
$39,000 to Missouri Association for Social Welfare to develop public forums for consumers to engage policymakers on health policy issues.
$37,500 to Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare to support school-based mental health services in the Concordia and Santa Fe school districts.

$22,500 to Child Abuse Prevention Association to support the agency in receiving accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA).
$16,500 to YMCA of Greater Kansas City to support the Jump Into Fitness (JIFF) program focused on increasing activity among children with disabilities.
